I just purchased this card and I test the read/write speed as soon as I got it. SanDisk advertise this 'Extreme' SDHC disk as 30MB/s, however the tools I used show only about 15MB/s.
Tested with:
Disk Tools
http://www.soft.tahionic.com
The read speed is 15MB/s and the write speed is 14.7MB/s.
Total Commander 7
www.Ghisler.com
The read speed is 20.5MB/s and the write speed is 11.5MB/s.
--------
Maybe I should send it back and say it is broken?
:)
You want to do amateur or power-level computing? Then there is no other choice than Windows! Period. As a Windows user you don't have to spend tons of a money for a Mac PC (sorry Mac guys but Mac is nothing else than an expensive PC now) and you don't have to waste time on forums to learn how install stuff. All that Linux/Mac can offer you can get on Windows and get is better. I spent many years working with Linux but it was always only my second choice. Sorry Linux friends, but I said it.

How to upgrade Fuji FinePix F550EXR firmware to v1.10
The explanations on Fuji web site are extremely convoluted. What they wanted to say in 500 words (or more) is this:
1. copy the fucking firmware on an empty SD card
2. stick the card into the camera and
3. press the POWER button while DISP/BACK is already pressed.
That's it.
---------
PS: you can also use a USB cable to upload the firmware file to the card (if the card is already into the camera and you are lazy to take it out and plug it in your computer).
---------
Fujifilm has released the latest firmware updates the Finepix F550EXR. The firmware improves the power consumption on F550R and it fixes occasional LCD display issues while connecting the cameras to PCs via USB cables on both cameras.
